METAPHYSICS

Personality Classes

A personality function describes what kind of information is being used. A personality class describes the role that function occupies within the personality.

The same function can behave very differently depending on its class. Ni as a Hero is naturally trusted and relied upon, while Ni as an Inferior can feel uncertain or vulnerable. The function stays the same; its position changes.

The eight classes form four relationships: Hero / Nemesis, Parent / Critic, Child / Trickster and Inferior / Demon.

Hero ↔ Nemesis

What feels naturally dependable is balanced by what creates doubt, worry and opposition.

Parent ↔ Critic

Responsible guidance is balanced by the part that notices faults and applies demanding standards.

Child ↔ Trickster

Curiosity and enjoyment are balanced by a position that can become confused, defensive or disruptive.

Inferior ↔ Demon

Vulnerability and aspiration are balanced by the deepest rejection or extreme response within the stack.
